How the date is chosen
Magha Shukla Panchami during purvahna (sunrise to midday), the time of Saraswati Puja; if two days have some of it, the day it covers more.
About Vasant Panchami
Magha Shukla Panchami, the day of Goddess Saraswati and the welcome of spring. Saraswati Puja is done in the forenoon (purvahna) while Panchami runs — books, pens and instruments are placed before her, yellow is the colour of the day, and many children begin their first letters (akshar-abhyas).
Times are for New Delhi (IST). In other cities sunrise, moonrise and muhurat times differ by some minutes, and now and then the day itself differs. Festival times for your city →
